Cavalier Youth Fencing Camps

En garde! Looking for something more than just the same old sports camp? Add some excitement to your summer vacation with the Cavalier Fencing Camps. We have a variety of camp experiences for the beginner to the experienced fencer.  We will spend the week playing games and learning footwork, blade technique, tactics, and the principles of competitive fencing – in short, everything you need to know about the sport.

Cavalier Fencing Camp 2012 Dates

Beginning Fencing Camps:  June 4-7, June 11-14, June 24-28

Girls Fencing Camp [all levels]:  June 18-21

Advanced Fencing Camp:  July 9-12

* All camps run Monday through Thursday 9:00am-2:00pm

* Fencers should come dressed in loose clothing (no denim jeans) and tennis shoes.  All fencing equipment is provided.  Fencers should provide their own sack lunch daily.

* All camps are for youth ages 8-14

BEGINNING FENCING CAMP

This camp will introduce all the basics of fencing to boys and girls from 8 to 12 years old. Learn to move your feet and your blade just like (or almost like) pirates in the movies!

ADVANCED FENCING CAMP

Boys and girls with previous fencing experience can refine their techniques at this week-long youth camp. Those who have participated in another fencing camp or in one of the Point's Cavalier classes are welcome to attend. We'll play the same great games you've enjoyed all along, with extra twists to keep things interesting.

GIRLS FENCING CAMP

Girls with or without fencing experience are welcome to attend our first Girls Only Fencing Camp. Fencing is a great sport for girls that teaches balance, coordination, focus and concentration.  Girls attending this camp will receive the same instruction in an all-girl learning environment.

All camps are taught by Liz Mayerich.  Liz began fencing at Texas A&M University in 2002. She coached at Salle Mauro Fencing Academy in Houston, Texas, and loves working with fencers of all ages—especially kids. She is a certified instructor with the United States Fencing Coaches Association and serves as the Head Coach for the Cavaliers Youth Program at The Point Fencing Club & School.
